Roland Champion Le Paradis Rosé 2020

Le Paradis Rosé 2020 is a single-parcel saignée cuvée made entirely from Meunier, sourced from the lieu-dit Le Paradis. This limited release highlights Roland Champion’s commitment to expressing individual vineyard sites through precise, small-scale vinification.

Produced using the saignée method, the juice macerates briefly with the skins before being “bled off” to capture both colour and structure from the Meunier. The wine is vinified in 228-liter oak barrels and bottled without dosage to preserve the pure expression of fruit, place and vintage. Only a small number of bottles were produced. After several months aging on fine lees in barrel, the wine was bottled and matured for an extended period on the lees before release. Malolactic fermentation is encouraged, while clarification occurs naturally with no fining or filtration. Following disgorgement, the wine rests further in the cellar before release.

Vintage character:
2020 was marked by an early growing season and warm, dry conditions through summer. Healthy fruit and balanced ripeness allowed for expressive aromatics while retaining freshness and energy, particularly suited to the naturally vibrant character of Meunier.

Tasting profile:
The nose opens with aromas of wild strawberry, red currant and rose petal, layered with subtle spice and a delicate hint of brioche from barrel aging. On the palate the wine is vibrant and structured, with fine tannic grip from the saignée extraction. Bright red fruit, fresh acidity and a chalk-tinged minerality lead to a long, precise finish.

Excellent as an aperitif, and particularly well suited to charcuterie, tuna tartare, grilled salmon or lightly spiced dishes.
